CAPE TOWN: South Africa has unveiled a seasoned 15-man squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy in Pakistan, which features 10 players from the recent World Cup in India.
Temba Bavuma will captain the team, which is set to compete in pool matches against Afghanistan in Karachi on February 21, Australia in Rawalpindi on February 25, and England in Karachi on March 1.
Notably, Anrich Nortje returns to the squad after recovering from a left toe injury that kept him out during the World Cup. Additionally, Lungi Ngidi, who missed the recent home series against Pakistan due to a groin injury, has also been included.
Coach Rob Walter expressed his confidence in the squad’s experience, stating, “This squad boasts a wealth of experience, with many players having consistently performed in high-pressure situations. That kind of experience is invaluable in a tournament like this.” He emphasized the importance of maintaining the core group from the World Cup while integrating fresh talent.
